Though one train-riding thief may have been responsible for a slew of lost phones, he wound up nearly losing his life, getting dangled from a moving car after getting caught stealing electronics.
On Wednesday, India-based reporter Priya Singh headed to Twitter with a harrowing glimpse at the incident, one “said to be from Bhagalpur, Bihar.”
“The snatcher who was running away after snatching the passenger's phone from the moving train was caught by the passenger and kept hanging from the window of the train for about 1 km,” she captioned the now-viral video in Hindi, per Google Translate.
चलती ट्रेन से पैसेंजर का फोन छीनकर भाग रहे झपटमार को यात्री ने पकड़ लिया और करीब 1 किमी तक ट्रेन की खिड़की से लटकाए रखा।

Shortly after making a viral splash in India, the clip headed stateside, where several terrified Redditors sounded off on the train-based mutiny.
“Yes! Gently tap his head that will surely teach him a lesson,” wrote u/Conejo_pestilente, while u/brokefixfux suggested an improvement for next time.
“It would be hilarious if the guys who came at the end pull his pants off,” they wrote.
But regardless of whether or not this guy got what was coming to him (he most certainly did), u/Elegant_Original_400 said it best: “We need more popular instant justice that's for sure,”
